A sun roof has taken on a new meaning in Arlington, Virginia as a local program is helping residents to go green with solar powered water heaters. Arlington is one of the leading counties in the country in the area of environmental building, and the Solar Raisers program was born out of citizen demand to convert to solar powered water heaters.

This program is providing assistance to residents to make it easier and more affordable for them to convert their existing water heaters into solar powered ones. The program also provides volunteer opportunities for residents who want to make their communities more environmentally friendly. Sunnovations, a local manufacturer of solar powered water heaters, has partnered with the Solar Raisers program by providing residents with group discounts on their solar water heaters.
